Green in Kwai Tsing | Green Continuity Carbon Reduction Carnival

Description

On November 29, Green in Kwai Tsing will host an environmental carnival themed around low-carbon living, specially inviting Caritas Art Workshop, Hong Kong Anglican Church Lady MacLehose Centre, ALBA IWS, and Women's Services Association to co-organize this large-scale carnival. The program is very rich; please visit the following link for event details.

(1)  SEA YOU Waste Reduction Discovery Pavilion* The SEA YOU Waste Reduction Discovery Pavilion will be divided into three zones:

1. Ocean Collage: The exhibition area will display a large ocean collage created collaboratively by multiple organizations and schools, entirely made from discarded plastic bags. The aim is to raise public awareness of marine conservation and plastic pollution through collective art creation, reflecting the community's spirit of collaborative waste reduction.

2. Marine Waste Information Station: The exhibition area will display information on the harm caused by plastic pollution to the ocean, aiming to enhance public awareness of marine crises and encourage everyone to reduce waste at the source, integrating plastic reduction into daily life.

3. Caritas Art Workshop Environmental Art Exhibition: The exhibition area will showcase marine-themed artworks meticulously created by individuals with intellectual disabilities using recycled materials. Through the exhibition, citizens will be conveyed the artistic value and environmental awareness of reusing waste.

(2) Second-hand Market

* Please bring your own eco-bag to take home beautiful second-hand items.

(3) Treasure Fun Grab Game*

All carnival participants will receive three game tokens to participate in the plastic bottle grabbing game. Successfully grabbing a plastic bottle allows participants to exchange it for gifts or second-hand items corresponding to the score. Participants who fail to grab a bottle can draw a game card and answer simple environmental recycling questions to receive a second-hand item, encouraging participation in environmental activities and giving new meaning to second-hand items to reduce waste.

(4) Green Spin Top Battle Zone

* Participants will first attend the carnival's workshop—DIY Plastic Bottle Spin Top. After completion, participants can engage in fun battles at the "Green Spin Top Battle Zone."

(5)   Plant for Good Mood

* Participants can create their own potted plant. The station will provide pots, plants suitable for autumn planting (e.g., marigolds, tomatoes, and lettuce), and soil. Participants are also welcome to bring their own pots. Encouraging citizens to green their homes and care for nature.

(6)   DIY Plastic Bottle Spin Top

* The workshop will teach participants how to make unique eco-friendly spin top toys using plastic bottles, bottle caps, and bamboo chopsticks. After completion, participants can head to the "Green Spin Top Battle Zone" for fun battles. Let participants experience the joy of waste reuse through hands-on creation and games, discovering the endless possibilities of daily items' rebirth.

(7)   Upcycled Goldfish Magnet

* The workshop will teach participants how to create cute goldfish-shaped magnets using discarded mini button shells and fabric scraps, teaching citizens to cherish resources, recycle, and reduce environmental burden.

(8)   Caritas Art Workshop: Dried Flower Diffuser Stone

* The workshop teaches participants to make diffuser stones using dried flowers, plaster powder, and essential oils, replacing electric diffusers and encouraging the public to reduce the use of electric diffusers to save energy.

(9)   Women's Services Association: Recycling Special "Soldiers"

* The booth is set up by the Women's Services Association. The game invites participants to use table rebound force to bounce ping pong balls with specific object patterns (e.g., aluminum cans, plastic bottles) into paper tubes labeled with "paper," "metal," and "plastic" classification patterns. Participants who complete the game will receive a gift. Through the game, participants will learn about waste sorting concepts and reinforce daily recycling awareness.

(10) ALBA IWS: WEEE Catch Grab Game

* The booth is set up by ALBA IWS @WEEE·PARK. Participants are invited to use a mechanical arm to grab all "four electricals and one computer" and successfully place them on a scale to receive a gift. Let participants learn to sort electronic waste and recycle properly.
